Canadiana Glam

Design Story

Every once and awhile wedding folks love to get together to create a design concept. Our lovely models, Colin & Jess, are a real happy couple (you can so tell!), so they were perfect for us to showcase a styled outdoor winter wedding concept!

This particular concept was created for a contest that required “Glitter and Glam” component. We decided to find a way to infuse a bit of Canadian pride as well. I love Pop Canadian culture – Bob & Doug Mackenzie, late night beer league hockey games, forest animals, maple syrup, and of course, snow. We wanted a concept that would celebrate the beauty of Canadian winters, and how hardy Canadians can be. (You know what I mean if your Dad ever BBQ’d in –20 degree weather wearing a skidoo suit.) The added glitter and glam was the perfect and unexpected element to pair with our Canadiana theme. We used it sparingly by introducing mercury glass on the tables, a bit of bling on the invitations, a table runner with gold detailing, crystals in the centerpiece, and sparkling sugars & icings on the dessert bar.

The colour palette was soft, and a bit unexpected for a design that was based on Canadiana. (No red!) I love how this design made me imagine a winter-loving, outdoorsy couple inviting all their friends to an outdoor winter party filled with hot food & drinks, a big winter bonfire, soft cozy blankets, and activities like pond hockey and cross country skiing. If you happen to be that winter outdoorsy couple, you know just who to call. ;)
